It helps that there's a pretty high autoheal rate, so if I can scrape through an encounter I can be ready for the next one with no lasting consequences. It's made the late game a bit aggravating but I'm pushing through. I've been putting points in both guns and melee as a Ventrue because I didn't want to get locked into a style, and I'm really struggling with being effective in combat. (Also, I was absolutely laughing my ass off at the bidding war for your services you can force with patience in The Hitman Impasse.) I love that there are entire quest chains that are just investigation the RPG trope that you get into a fight at every step of a quest is so old, and I appreciate having it turned on its head. It's absolutely unnecessary but it just shows a lot of love and care, and a lot of connection to the tabletop RPG. This has three different persuade skills, all based on different base stats. Most games have a persuade skill, based on charisma. I love how excessive the dialogue system is.

(I used the unofficial patch but opted out of the restored content.) I am currently playing (and, as far as I can tell, about to finish: just cleared the Hallowbrook of Sabbat) this game too!įirst of all, this game is way ahead of its time when it comes to game design and mechanics.I've played a lot of 2000s RPGs and this definitely felt more like the years 20 than the year 2004, in terms of its comparative technology level.
